Maxwell and Kara both have Bardet-Biedl. Max was diagnosed at the age of two and Kara was diagnosed at birth. Both children had polydactaly. While Max is large, 92 pounds, Kara has not shown any indication of obesity at this time!
Max is 4 years old (born in 94). He started pre-school last January. He is doing well in
the school setting, receiving speech therapy both at school and at home. Max's mom
struggles to control his weight and says she does receive help from professionals on this.
Max has been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa and has had surgery for strabismus.
Max is a very loving and happy boy!
Kara was born Jan 97. She is one year old now and is doing very well. Because she was diagnosed with BBS so early, she has had every therapy possible. She was born with extra digits, urethral fistula, renal problems and other medical needs. She will have surgery soon to correct dislocated hips.
